Ughhh! So much to catch up on in my journal! Summer has taken it’s hold and time slips away so quickly as we try to cram as much living as we can into these beautiful days!
In early June, we became official sailors! “Follow the path” has been my Moto for a long time now. And boy has it lead Nick and I on an amazing adventure! In February, Nick mentioned a dream of always wanting to own a sailboat and possibly trying the “liveaboard” lifestyle. As I have never once stepped onto a sailboat I asked him to show me the marinas in his parents town of New Smyrna Beach, Florida while we were vacationing there. This lead us down a rabbit hole of magazines, books, YouTube videos, online tutorials and much conversation, built energy and excitement of possibilities. A random morning bike ride through the marinas in St Joe led us to a kind man by the name of Paul who was working on his boat on the hard (no boats were allowed in the water in Michigan until later in the month due to Covid-19). We exchanged numbers with him and crossed our fingers that he was serious about his offer of possibly help crew his boat during racing season. He has not only allowed us to be part of his race crew … but he has also become a great mentor and friend. He has introduced us to many like-minded sailors and skilled trainers that have polished and grown our skills very quickly! I signed up for basic sailing classes at the St Joseph Junior Foundation to help grow my knowledge even more. Surrender to the path …
While we still playing the waiting game to see if Nick’s job will require him back or will lay him off, we have come to the goal of selling the Mishawaka house and relocating to St Joe by end of the year. There are still some moving parts to the transition and much to do to prepare the house for sale but the end is achievable. I have interviews coming up to hopefully land a job here locally as well.
Our kids all seem to be at their crossroads in life too. Gavin is struggling in his quest for joining the military. He has had some weaknesses that have held him back (as we all do at some point) He lacks the personal drive or ambition … but he is an intelligent and kind and I’m extremely proud of him. Savannah is pregnant with her second child. Her and Joey are doing the best they can with what they have and are working hard to make it all work. She is a blessing and a wonderful mother to Amelia … no doubt that when baby girl #2 arrives that she will be a superstar! Chris is back to work at the casino. His desires are becoming stronger to escape to a different area (possibly Texas with his uncle) and expand his adventures. Alex and Jake are already onto their next adventure (and we’re sure it won’t be their last). The perpetual non-conformists have moved back to Florida with Sami and Rylee and we pray every day that they are safe and satisfied.
I feel like I need to add dramatic music to my journal entries lol. “Like sands through the hour glass … so are the Days of Our Lives” …
