Happy Easter!
Today is our first Easter together and of course “social distancing” is keeping everyone in their isolation. My son Gavin is with us this morning so off to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee while Nick prepares an egg casserole for breakfast. We turned on a Christian Rock station and enjoyed listening to the comforting music of the songs that speak to our faith. Our afternoon is spent doing yard work and our evening will be spent devouring the delicious lasagna that Nick has been working on for two days and watching movies. Easter has always been a time of cleansing renewal of life. Today has been very reflective on our many blessings. The flowers growing in my garden, the birds building their nests and singing their beautiful songs, the buds bursting on the trees … life blooms again after the long winter. Sounds, smells, feelings all are heightened as we put our lives on a mandatory hold. In some ways it’s allowed us to reconnect with a simpler time (childhood) … and to connect in different ways thanks to the technology of our current era. It’s a connection to our history that have endured similar pandemics or wars, depriving their eras of certain luxuries in the name of humanity, safety, cause. It brings a strange comfort to know that others have endured much worse with less advancements that we are privy to. But the emotions, fears, inadequacies, impatience, communication has all changed over history … perhaps not for the best.
Continue to dream.
Continue to be blessed.
Continue to renew your life.
